A Week in Review - March 11 - 15

Can you believe that it is already the middle of March?!? This year is seriously flying by. This week we completed our Dr. Seuss unit.  We read "Oh the Things You Can Think" and created our own things that we can think.  Students came up with some really creative ideas!

"I can think of going to gymnastics" (Allie PM).
"I can think of my master teaching me how to break boards" (Noah AM).
"I can think of a dog with shoes" (Evi AM).
"I can think of baseball" (Derrick PM).
We also read "The Cat in the Hat" (one of my favorites).  The students made Thing One or Thing Two with their hands and wrote about what they would do if Thing One and Thing Two came to their house!

"If Thing One and Thing Two came to my house I would throw them in the garbage" (Haley PM).
"If Thing One and Thing Two came to my house I would tell them that they are naughty" (Sullivan PM).
"If Thing One and Thing Two came to my house I would thcatch" (Anna AM).
"If Thing One and Thing Two came to my house I would play with toys" (La'Mya AM).
We completed our Dr. Seuss unit with a Dr. Seuss snack party! Eveyone had a great time eating the Dr. Seuss snacks!

A Week in Review - March 4 - 8

I hope that everyone enjoyed their extra stay home day(s)! We have continued to work on our Dr. Seuss theme.  This week we read "There's a Wocket in my Pocket" and created our own creature in a pocket.  They are *too* cute!

There's a nocket in my pocket and his name is Bocket (Nyelah PM)
There's a zocket in my pocket and his name is Mocket (Janelle PM).
There's a socket in my pocket and his name is Locekt (La'Mya AM).
There's a rocket in my pocket and his name is Bocket (Lilah AM).
Since the AM kiddos had an extra day of school, we did an extra activity.  We headed to Miss Havig's room and Dr. Westfahl came in and read "Bartholomew and the Oobleck." After we read the story, we created our very own Oobleck with our new first grade friends!

Please remember to send in your Dr. Seuss snacks on Friday!

Love,
Miss Lucas
