A Week in Review - November 19 - 23

I didn't get a chance to take a lot of pictures of anything other than our Thanksgiving Feast.  Thank you so much to all of the parents who were able to help donate food and their time.  The kiddos loved it!

We also celebrated Evi's birthday (AM) and read our T books!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

A Week in Review - November 12 - 16

Did you know that we can read in K4?!  We talk about it all the time, but this week students had the opportunity to read their very own F book.  Students were asking if they could take their books home and read them to their families.  If your child didn't read their F book to you, ask them!

Our F book.

Students had to write their own F on the last page and draw one thing that started with the /f/ sound.

Evi's F page (AM).
Tyler's F page (PM).

We worked very hard on touching each word as we read it.  Everyone did a great job!

Reese reading his F book (PM).
We also worked on using roll-a-dough.

Ella, Willy and Lilah using roll-a-dough (AM).
Cate, April and Nyleah using roll-a-dough (PM).

We worked on writing the letter F and making squares.

On Friday, we did math centers.  Students loved the Comparing in Trays Center.  All you need to play is a die, an ice cube tray, and counters.  Who knew such simple materials would make such a fun game!

Miles, Sullivan, Allie and Jo Lin at Comparing in Trays (PM).

Francisco, Willy, Sasha and Cheyanne at Patterning (AM).
Noah, Hazel, Maria and Lilah at Pattern Block Pictures (AM).
Ella, Yiwen, Bennett and Kennedy at Number Stations (AM).
We also worked on making place mats for our Thanksgiving Feast.  Students are creating "grateful gobblers."  To make the feathers of their gobblers students colored coffee filters and then they sprayed them with water.  We will complete our place mats on Monday.

We had our Mystery Readers and Fresh Fruit Friday Snack!  We also celebrated Willy's 5-year-old birthday (AM)!

Willy's mom was our AM Mystery Reader!
Sullivan's mom was our PM Mystery Reader!
Sullivan brought in our Fresh Fruit Friday snack (PM)!
Willy brought in a present for our classroom for his birthday (AM)!
Two new books!  Thank you Willy!
Happy Birthday Willy!
Please remember to send in our Thanksgiving Feast items on Tuesday!

Love,
Miss Lucas
