This week we learned about nursery rhymes and fairy tales. First, we learned the nursery rhyme, "Mary Had a Little Lamb." We read books and sang the nursery rhyme. Next, we made Mary's lamb. Then, we predicted where the lamb would go next! Mary's little lamb sure was a busy lamb!
| This was the best version I found! We *loved* it! |
| The next day, Mary's lamb went to the construction site (Bennett AM). |
| The next day, Mary's lamb went to the city (Yiwen AM). |
| The next day, Mary's lamb went to McDonald's (Brinya PM). |
The next day, Mary's lamb went to McDonald's (Derrick PM).
Mary's lamb must love McDonald's!
Next, we learned about fairy tales. We read two different versions of "The Three Bears." We compared and contrasted the two stories. Then, students colored and cut out retelling props.
| Allie, Hayden, and Monica coloring their props (PM). |
| Allie coloring her bears (PM). |
On Monday, we will read a third version and compare it to the other two we have already read. Students are getting really good at being able to retell the story!
We also learned all about the letter Hh!
| His for heart, hair, honey and hammer. |
In math, students shared their math activities. They were so excited to explain the activities they did at home! I was so impressed with their 'student' recording.
| Ella sorted her stuffed animals (AM). |
| Maria sorted and counted her family members and pets (AM). |
Also, we worked on patterning Humpty Dumpty's wall. Everyone did a great job!
Finally, on Friday we had our Mystery Reader and Fresh Fruit Friday!
| Nyleah's mom was our PM Mystery Reader! |
| Evi brought in pairs for Fresh Fruit Friday (AM). |
| April brought in bananas for Fresh Fruit Friday (PM). |
I hope that you are enjoying building your Humpty Dumpty contraptions with your child! Please remember to send them, along with the egg on Friday!
Love,
