Our Week in Review - April 20 - May 1

CAUTION - LONG post coming your way!

Whew, what a busy past two weeks! We finished up our pet theme last week! We read "If You Were a Parrot" and talked about speech bubbles! Students created parrots and decided what they would want their parrot to say.

We also graphed which type of *imaginary* pet we would choose!

In Writers Workshop we worked really hard on our opinion pieces! Students wrote about the best pet! We have been s-l-o-w-l-y working on recording our writing on the iPads. As students complete their iPad story, I will be sharing them with you! Please be patient, as we have to do this one-on-one and I'm in the middle of PALS assessments. I promise each child will have an opportunity to share their writing with you through the iPad!

Here are the students that were recorded this week!

We kicked off our bears unit this week by reading "A Pocket For Corduroy." Students then sewed their own pocket and drew what they would keep in their pocket.

On Wednesday night, Corduroy came to visit our classroom and lost several buttons! Luckily we found them and then graphed them by color!

This week in Readers Workshop we started reading nonfiction books about bears. We are learning all sorts of new facts and keeping track of them on our bears chart!

Disclaimer - I am *not* an artist! I *attempted* to use colors and shapes to make things look like they really do...

Oh, yeah, and we went to the zoo!

Our Mystery Readers came on Friday!

Our letter of the week next week is Ww (hi smiley, big line slides down, big line slides up, and down, and up).

Enjoy the sunshine!

Love,
