Our Week in Review - November 4 - 8

It looks like fall is here to stay! We have been talking a lot about fall in our room this week. We read several books about fall, went on a leaf hunt, and shared why we like fall.

We read "We're Going on a Leaf Hunt" and went on our own leaf hunt
AM's Leaf Hunt
PM's Leaf Hunt
I like fall because the leaves change color (Mya AM)
I like fall because the leaves fall down (Rex AM)
I like fall because there is Halloween (Elliott AM)
I like fall because I like leaves (Mercer PM)
I like fall because I like to pick pumpkins (Joey PM)
I like fall because I like to press leaves (Ava PM)
In writers workshop we have been learning that writers use colors and shapes to make things look like they really do. If your child is working on a picture at home, I encourage you to remind them of this as well!

In readers workshop we have been learning to picture read our stories. Students have been talking about what they see happening in the pictures of their books. Again, another great thing to work on at home if you are reading to your child!

Rohan reading the pictures (PM)
Kendia and Ivy reading the pictures (PM)
Joey and Jae reading the pictures (PM)
Caedyn reading the pictures (AM)
Sophie reading the pictures (AM)
Alissyn reading the pictures (AM)
Annabell reading the pictures (AM)
We have been working hard on learning all about the letter Ll. We read our Ll book together this week. Have your child read the book to you! The page should read: L/L/ leaf -  L /L/ ladder - L /L/ lamp (read the letter, say the sound, read the word).

Our Mystery Readers showed up on Friday!

Annabelle's Dad was our AM Mystery Reader!
Jackson's Grandma was our PM Mystery Reader!
Please continue to use the smiley strips at home to practice writing letters, names, and crayon grip. Remember to say hi to smiley and *always* start the letters at the top! Let me know if you fill up your book and need a new one (please use the front and back side of the book).

Remember, the letter homework is due Friday.

Our letter of the week next week is F!

Enjoy your weekend!

Love,
Mrs. Koscielniak
