Our Week in Review - October 28 - November 1

Happy November! I cannot believe how quickly the year is passing. We enjoyed the last week in October by celebrating Halloween and learning about fire safety.

We started the week off by reading "Where's My Mummy?" - a story about a baby mummy who is scared and wants his mama mummy. Then, students shared what their "mummy" does when they are scared.

When I get scared, my mummy hugs me and kisses me (Aden AM).
When I get scared, my mummy lets me sleep with her (Sophie AM).
When I get scared, my mummy turns the TV and lights on (Kendia PM).
When I get scared, my mummy brings her laptop into my bed (Ivy PM).
When I get scared, my mummy gives me a snuggle (Annie PM).
On Wednesday we listened to a fire safety presentation. We learned to call 911 if there is an emergency and to stop, drop, and roll if our clothes ever caught on fire.

Jae (PM) demonstrated how to stop, drop, and roll.

On Thursday we Parade through the K5 classrooms and the office! Everyone had *so* much fun!

After our parade we made our Witches' Brew. Students carefully poured in the ingredients into the cauldron and mixed it up. We enjoyed our Witches' Brew for snack!

On Friday we sorted and graphed our favorite candy - YUM!

Our Mystery Readers also came on Friday.

Grace's Mom was our AM Mystery Reader.
Lauren's Mom was our PM Mystery Reader
We have started working on writing our names in all capital letters. We always start at the top and say hi to smiley before we begin our letter. Please continue to practice this at home as well. On Monday, sheets like the one seen here will come home for you to practice name and letter writing with your child.

I wrote the name on top and the child copied the name below (be sure to say hi to smiley every time you start you letter).
Please be sure to check the monthly calendar for our Letter of the Week and snacks (including Fresh Fruit Friday). Monday begins our Letter of the Week. The first letter is Ll.

Enjoy your weekend!

Love,
Mrs. Koscielniak
