Our Week in Review - March 24 - 28

On Monday we finished up our Thinks We Could Think which was a perfect transition into our Writers Workshop (talking about showing what characters are thinking)!

This week in Writers Workshop we learned that characters have thoughts and how to show those thoughts. Students were excited to show what their characters were thinking.


Mercer was thinking about a cupcake (PM)
Jackson and his brother were thinking about ice cream (PM)
Kalin was thinking about playing on the slide and her sister was thinking about playing with her other sister (AM)
In Readers Workshop we worked on identifying characters' problems.


We started talking about pets this week. We graphed whether or not we had a pet.

We focused on cats this week. We read "Cookie's Week" and retold the story. We also created our own class book about what we thought Cookie might do another day!







On Tuesday... Cookie painted the bathtub (Alissyn AM)
On Friday... Cookie ate soap (Finley AM)
On Saturday... Cookie went swimming (Sophie AM)
On Friday... Cookie saw a movie (Ivy PM)
On Sunday... Cookie went to the park (Amiah PM)
On Thursday... Cookie went to the library (Lucy PM)
Andreas even used a thought bubble during his Cookie drawing - yay Andreas!

On Monday... Cookie played (Andreas AM)
Our Mystery Reader made an appearance on Friday!

Our letter of the week next week is Aa - hi smiley, big line slides down, another big line slides down, little line across.

Reading logs and money for the read-a-thon are due Monday.

Zoo permission slips are due Tuesday, April 8th.

A Week in Review - March 17 - 21

In Readers Workshop we learned that the next step is publishing! Several friends were excited to publish and share their stories with their friends.

For Saint Patrick's Day we created leprechauns and shared what makes us feel lucky.

I feel lucky when I get to go to Florida (Annie PM)
I feel lucky when I get kisses from my mommy (Finley AM)

I feel lucky when I get to play on the computer (Elliott AM)
I feel lucky when I get to go to school (because I like school) (Rex AM)
We Read "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish," then sorted and graphed colored goldfish crackers.

We read "The Foot Book" and brainstormed different opposites. Then, we drew opposites and made a class book.

We also read "Oh the Thinks you can Think!" and brainstormed silly thinks that we could think. We didn't complete the project yet, so I will post pictures next week.

On Friday we wore our Dr. Seuss hats and had our Dr. Seuss Celebration! Thank you to all the parents who made snacks for our celebration!

Pink ink (juice), Wocket in My Pocket (cupcakes), One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (jell-o), Cat's hat (kabob), Green Eggs and Ham (M&Ms with pretzels)
