A Week In Review - September 4 - 7

Wow!  What a great first few days we had!  That first week went by so quickly; and we did so much.  We began our first day of school by reading "The Kissing Hand."

After we read the book, we talked about how Chester felt on his first day and how the students felt on their first day.  Most kids told me they were "super excited," which made me *super excited* to hear.    Students came up and wrote their names (if they felt comfortable) on a predictable chart and I filled in how they felt.

Finally, we enjoyed a kissing hand cookie!  Students were so excited to have cookies on their first day of school!

Hazel and Evi (AM).
On our first full day together we read "The Gingerbread Man is Loose in the School."  Students *loved* this story (and I did too).  I told them I brought in gingerbread cookies as my birthday treat for them, but when we went to eat them we had discovered they ran away!  We had to follow his clues around the school and track our cookies down!  Everyone was so excited to chance him around the school!

Traveling through the hallway to the library to find the gingerbread man (PM)!
Asking the office if they've seen the gingerbread man (AM)!
Reading a clue outside of the cafeteria (AM)
The gingerbread man ran to the school nurse for an ice pack (PM).
After a long search we finally found him - in our classroom!  Of course we couldn't risk him running away again, so we gobbled him up!

I hope you enjoy your long weekend!

Love,
Miss Lucas
