Happy *early* Halloween! I know many of you went trick-or-treating this weekend. I cannot wait to see all of the fun costumes on Wednesday!
Our theme this week was Halloween. We read "Where's My Mummy," a story about Little Baby Mummy who is scared by the friendly creatures that scare him in the night. His Big Mama Mummy is the one who comforts him when he's scared. Students made text-to-self connections with the text. We discussed what our "mummies" do for us when we're scared!

In math we have continued to work on 1:1 correspondence, counting, sorting, and graphing. This week we read "Today I feel Silly," a book about different moods. Then, we graphed how we were feeling that day. After we completed our graph, we talked about the results! (I forgot to take pictures of the graphs. I will do that Monday and post them Monday morning).
We've been beginning to talk about sorting objects. One of the choices in the math center is to sort objects by size (bigger/smaller). In the next few weeks will begin to talk about attributes and different ways to sort objects!

In our literacy centers we started listening to books on the iPad. Everyone *loved* it!

In science we continued to observe our pumpkins. On Thursday, we *finally* noticed a tiny sprout coming up in the AM pumpkin. The kiddos were so excited!

We have another busy week this week! We will be trying to catch the Candy Corn Bandit (one of my favorite activities), making witches' brew, and having our Halloween party!
On Friday, we are going to graph our favorite type of candy (chocolate or other). Please send in a small candy wrapper of your child's favorite candy by Friday, November 2nd. Place the wrapper in a bag with your child's name on it. Thank you!
Love,
