Our Week in Review - October 7 - 11

We had another busy week in room 116. On Monday we had Readers Workshop. Students read "look books" at their tables for 15 minutes! We are practicing looking at the front cover and thinking what our story will be about. If you are reading at home with your child, please have them practice this!

On Tuesday we had Writers Workshop. Some students worked on old stories and some students started new stories.

Mommy is telling me it is bedtime (Alysson AM).

Mom planted a pumpkin seed and the rain made it grow. Then, I'm going to bring it home (Rex AM).

To get ready for our field trip, we read several fiction and non-fiction books about pumpkins. We also recorded our background knowledge on pumpkins on the SMARTboard. Disclaimer - I am still learning how to write like an adult on the SMARTboard :)

We also had our first week of literacy stations! Monday and Tuesday will always be Readers/Writers Workshop and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be literacy stations.

While friends were at teacher time, they were learning how to use scissors and created the life cycle of a pumpkin. We aren't finished with them yet, so I'll post the finished product next week.

Aden's Mom was our AM Mystery Reader.

Lucy's sister, Natalie, was our PM Mystery Reader.

Please continue to work on the using the correct crayon grip at home with your child. We have been working very hard on that in our classroom this week.
